The ‘King of jars’ this 19th century classic French "Jarres de Biot" (biot jars) from Provence makes an elegant statement and is a wonderful example of this style that dates back to the 16th century once used to preserve olives or store flour.
Dimensions are: 40cm diameter x 58cm tall
Handcrafted using the ancient technique of rope thrown pottery this biot has lovely, aged patina.
Because biot pots are glazed only on the neck and rim (to prevent insects from climbing inside) they may not suitable for overwintering outside except if emptied and covered or brought inside.
Please note that these pots were never intended as planters. You will need to drill a drainage hole if you are intending to plant directly into the pot.
